In August 2026, 14,678 young people aged 15 to 24 are unemployed, 3.4% of that age group, up from 12,294 in July.

What the figures say

The number of unemployed young people rose by 2,384 (+19.4%) in a month and by 996 (+7.3%) in a year. Part of the August rise is seasonal: each summer young people finish school, an apprenticeship or studies without yet having found a place (SECO).

For context

The unemployment rate for the whole population is 3.0% in August 2026, and 2.7% for those aged 50 to 64.
